We invite ALL mentors to attend one of these helpful sessions, regardless of your in-person attendance this fall.
This session will prepare mentors to build effective relationships with veterinary students through intentional communication, trust, respect for individual differences, and practical strategies for maintaining connection beyond the Mentor Program.
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
Recognize behaviors that help students feel comfortable, respected, and supported in a mentoring relationship.
Adjust communication approaches based on a student’s personality, confidence, communication preferences, and individual needs.
Use practical questions and conversation strategies to better understand a student’s goals, interests, and current challenges.
Establish a clear plan for continued communication, including preferred methods of contact and next steps after the Mentor Program.
This session and discussion will be led by Edward Raimundi, Director of Student Services at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.
